School Day, Rittersport, and Tubingen

Today started off like any normal day. I set my alarm for 6:25 AM to catch a 7:15 AM bus to school. As usual, I had the normal German breakfast of bread, butter, and jam. After a scenic drive, we arrived at school around 7:45 AM. My first class today was English, and we watched Will, Aloys, and Ann Marie's presentation on school systems in America; along with Jess, Katie, and Emma's on pop culture in America. I thought both were very throughly done and the groups did an awesome job of depicting American culture. After that, around 10:10, we left for the Rittersport Factory. Everyone was super excited about getting the day started and going to the factory.

Once we arrived, we went straight upstairs to make our own chocolate. I thought that this was a lot of fun and really interesting. We learned all about the process of how the chocolate is made and packaged. After learning about how everything was made, we finally got the chance to make our own. We were able to choose between three types of chocolate: white, dark, and milk.  I chose the dark chocolate. After picking the type of chocolate we wanted, we could pick what to put in the chocolate. I decided to try something more unusual: gummy bears and pop rocks. Surprisingly, it was very good and I really enjoyed it. Finally after the chocolate hardened, we could put them in the customized boxes we created while waiting for the chocolate. When we finished making our chocolates we headed downstairs to the best part of the entire Rittersport Factory: the chocolate store. I think they had every single type of chocolate know to man kind. It was super fun to see all the different kinds and sizes of chocolates they had.

Because it was extremely hot today, everyone wanted to make sure that the chocolate they bought wouldn't melt, so most of us ended up buying theses freezer bags with ice packs as well. Once we finished up at Rittersport we all piled onto another bus and headed to Tubingen. There we met up with the Germans. When we were all together, we went off on a tour of the city. Tubingen is an extremely beautiful city. To get an even better look of city, we took a Stocherkahn(similar to a gondola) on the river. It was a very scenic and peaceful ride up the river. We were able to see all the buildings that make up this beautiful city.

After our boat tour, we were given free time in the city to explore. My friends and I decided to go find a nice cafe to sit in and enjoy air conditioning. Most of us either ordered a small sandwich and a drink or ice cream. It was delicious. We all met up as a group, once again, and headed back home around 5 PM. That wasn't the end of the day though. After Tubingen, Lea and I were going out with friends. Lea, Annika, Katie and I decided we were going to spend a fun Friday night at Theresa and Kayt's house eating pizza and watching Law and Order. The day finally came to a close when Annika's mom came to pick us up around 11 PM and we headed home for the night. Hopefully the rest of the weekend has just as much excitement as today.
